True to form, I couldn’t wait.

My mother-in-law came over for dinner last night and I gave her the poncho. I know, I know – it was supposed to be for Christmas, but when I was weaving in the ends it occurred to me that fall is poncho weather. And there you have it. She LOVES it and it fits beautifully – I would definitely knit this pattern again.

The Rhinebeck countdown clock has officially begun. D#1 and her friend (did I mention that she had a friend with her on this trip?) hit the road this morning and headed back to school. Her friend had been staying in the guest room and I was under orders from Cara to make sure I got rid of any teenage boy smells. (and no, this is most definitely not D#1’s boyfriend) Luckily for me, the friend is the non smelly type, but I gave it a dusting and the bathroom a thorough scrubbing. In the meantime, Vicki will be staying in D#1’s room and that needed a going over. Tomorrow the rest of the house will get a shine. God, these slumber parties are work!

Vicki, maybe we should grab some Starbucks and take a quick trip to the beach. You can get Rusty some Fire Island Sand for his collection?

Spin Out

these pictures should say it all – Spin Out was fantastic in every way! The weather was sheer perfection! The location was gorgeous! The bathrooms were close by! The spinners were Fun & Fascinating! It truly was a perfect day. lots of exclamation points!!!

I picked up Martha (fellow guild member and spinner extraordinaire), at the train station and we headed into the city. This was a major step for me since I have a fear of city driving. Well, those days are over! I drove in with no problem at all and found a very conveniently located parking garage. We got to the site in Central Park at 10 to set up. Cara brought bagels! Before we knew it all of the spinners began to arrive and from there it was a whirl of gabbing, laughing and spinning! Truly the day just flew by. The carriage horses and pedi-cabs come to see the spectacular view from this site so we had a constant parade of people. There was music in the distance providing a nice audio background. What more could we ask for? I walked through my door at 7:30 pm – exhausted but happy.

I bet you want to know who was there — I am terrible at this and will leave people out for sure. Cara had a sign up sheet so perhaps she will provide a link-fest for us. In the meantime, I was yucking it up with Nancy, Maribel, Chante, Peggie, Annie, Jenny, Regina, John, Kay, Melissa, Amy, Jenna, Martha, Carrie …… I know there were lots more. And now I feel badly. I hope you all are happy – see what you’ve done!

Anyway, there are more pictures to see over at my Flickr account. Today I will be performing a labor of love with potential for fabulous dividends ….. stay tuned for more details, all will be revealed my pets!

uncle!

I thought that the RSS feed would automatically update with the new domain mapping, but I see that isn’t the case. I also need to figure out why my archived pictures didn’t make the transfer.

I added an RSS feed button to my side bar. After I got it all set up, I saw that WordPress had already put one at the top of the page. So please update your links – I’d hate to see my readership drop to the single digits! ;)

the move

I spent most of yesterday tinkering around with WordPress. I managed to import my entries from Typepad. I have been keeping this blog since 2003 and did not realize just how many entries that would be. So I also spent a good deal of time categorizing the uncategorized (which is not necessary, just something I would like to have), only 1545 more to go!

When Mr. Boar got home he helped to re-map my domain name. Actually he did the re-mapping while I looked helpfully over his shoulder giving him good tips which I know he appreciated. He likes it when I do that while he’s driving too. Seriously though, even though I type in purlingswine.com, the wordpress part still shows up so I think maybe some more re-mapping is on the horizon. But the important thing is that it gets you here.

Today I am off to a dentist appointment and then work at Granny’s. A reminder for all you Long Island knitters and fiber lovers — this is the last week for Granny’s sale, get ’em while they’re hot!

Sadly, or no?, today marks the last of the official Year of the Pig pictures. I know and many of you know that I have loads more pigs. But those things are either in the back of cupboards or packed away in boxes. I am sure more pig pictures will pop up on this site from time to time. We are leaving off with my pig Martin who sits out front by our driveway lantern. He is a full sized porcine replica and I am sure the neighbors love it! (actually I had a garage sale a few years ago where lots of people said how much they like him).
