Well when Boar came home, I was telling him about the wheel not taking the fiber onto the bobbin and asking if he had a rat tail file to try (thanks Cheryl!). “By the way”, I said, “what do you think the deal on this is?” and I showed him the clamp, the limited movement etc.

It turns out that the metal was stuck to the wood. I guess a build up of age related goop had worked to glue them together. All it needed was a good twist – my problem all along had been not enough tension.

So we are spinning!

Speaking of age related goop – Boar and I are celebrating our 21st anniversary on Thursday and I have come to believe that that is the secret to a long term marriage …. age-related goop.

in other matters, here is my horoscope for today …..

If people around you react explosively to an explosive situation today, do not follow their example — not matter how justified they may be. Screaming at someone who has been rude or inconsiderate isn’t going to mitigate the stress, it will only increase it. Be mindful of your role in every conversation, and try to be a force for mutual respect, not power struggles. You will have to take the high road today. There will be another day for you to get down and dirty and get things off your chest.

sounds like things could get a bit dicey at Costco ……

I spent most of yesterday tinkering around with WordPress. I managed to import my entries from Typepad. I have been keeping this blog since 2003 and did not realize just how many entries that would be. So I also spent a good deal of time categorizing the uncategorized (which is not necessary, just something I would like to have), only 1545 more to go!

When Mr. Boar got home he helped to re-map my domain name. Actually he did the re-mapping while I looked helpfully over his shoulder giving him good tips which I know he appreciated. He likes it when I do that while he’s driving too. Seriously though, even though I type in purlingswine.com, the wordpress part still shows up so I think maybe some more re-mapping is on the horizon. But the important thing is that it gets you here.

Today I am off to a dentist appointment and then work at Granny’s. A reminder for all you Long Island knitters and fiber lovers — this is the last week for Granny’s sale, get ’em while they’re hot!

Sadly, or no?, today marks the last of the official Year of the Pig pictures. I know and many of you know that I have loads more pigs. But those things are either in the back of cupboards or packed away in boxes. I am sure more pig pictures will pop up on this site from time to time. We are leaving off with my pig Martin who sits out front by our driveway lantern. He is a full sized porcine replica and I am sure the neighbors love it! (actually I had a garage sale a few years ago where lots of people said how much they like him).

Things have been hectic around here. Thursday was D#2’s last final – it was also her last Regent. TGTO (thank God that’s over). Friday she attended her boyfriend’s senior prom, so there was a flurry of activity getting ready for that. But hard work pays off – look how cute she is!

I was invited to sing Happy Birthday to my favorite Bronx Girl on Saturday afternoon! Her birthday is Wednesday, go on over there and tell her she looks fantastic for her age. Kathleen and I hopped in Onslow headed to the Bronx and feasted on Maribel’s excellent cooking. OMG can that girl cook. She is a cooking wonder – it was all in Spanish, so I cannot even begin to tell you what she made. Lots of it was fried and really, that’s all that needs to be said. Yum! I also got to meet Chante, Risa and Tisha. Yes, meeting them was almost as good as Maribel’s cooking. Although none of them are fried. It was a great time and besides the feasting there was plenty of fiber play.

From that party, I headed straight to another party! Flair (the blogless wonder) was celebrating her daughter’s high school graduation. And that was another fantastic time with more delicious food. Do you get the sense that I don’t need to eat for an entire week after this past weekend?

On the knitting front I shall just say the moss stitch continues. My next project is The Babette blanket for which I have received fabulous yarn, colorful yarn, glorious colorful yarn. Yet I abstain. I cannot start that project until the Hex is lifted.

did you find your way here from Cara’s? would you like to hear the story behind the ‘my love muscle can bench press 250’ wisecrack? Here goes ….. Cara was relating some ‘guy talk’ where one guy was inquiring about the girlfriend of his buddy. He wondered about the state of her ‘love muscle’ and how strong it was or wasn’t. I was a bit dumbfounded – what in the hell is a love muscle? How can I be 44 years old and not know about this? Well, Cara explained it all to me using a Keigel exercise example — and my reply was ‘oh that. I didn’t know that was called a love muscle. Here I always thought it was called a vagina. Well, my love muscle can bench press 250!’

now tell me, if that were a podcast would you subscribe?

it would sound something like this:

A: moss stitch. grumble, cursing, bitching

C: STR!!!! New Knitting Bag!!!!! tra la la tra la la tra la la fuckers

C: love muscle.

A: ?

A: 250.

hilarity.
