you may begin.

Take note people! This is my horoscope for today …..

Aquarius:

Living on the fast track can be exciting and rewarding, but right about now it is time you slowed down your forward momentum. You can wait a few days to return those phone calls or emails — why look so eager? Let the other people involved show their willingness to put forth some effort. You should be courted and pursued right now, not the other way around. You need to be reminded that you are a prize that is worth winning — and working for.

I await all the courting & pursuing.

ps.  it’s true, living on the fast track is exciting and rewarding!

I know I’m all for

Blogging Without Obligation

but it has been too long!!

Quickly – D#2 seems to be much improved. She is still not 100%, maybe more like 88%. The Dr. thinks it is a viral thing – lots of weird things going around here lately. Thank you for all your comments and concern! She is pretty much back to her regular schedule, just taking it easy when she feels she needs to (and sometimes when I feel she needs to).

A few of you asked what diet I was on that required a daily soak in a hot tub. Kay inspired me to give the Ultra Simple Diet a try. I also have the Ultra Metabolism book, but haven’t gotten to that yet. I just finished the first week and have to say that this program is working very well for me so far. And it does require a relaxing bath at the end of the day!! I have lost 6 pounds in the first week and an inch off my waist. The much better thing is that I feel great. In the past when I have lost weight, I don’t know if I could say that – at least not at the outset. I really feel terrific (didn’t realize that I wasn’t feeling terrific).

enough about that – I don’t want to jinx it!

how about some knitting chat? This yarn just arrived on my porch! I originally ordered it in gray but it was sadly out of stock. So I replaced it with the evergreen color. I am planning on knitting Boar the Wall Street Vest from the book Arans & Celtics: The Best of Knitter’s Magazine. Here is a Ravelry picture of the project. I have borrowed this book from my library, but am inclined to purchase a copy for my shelf. I am hoping to start a gauge swatch today and will finally have some knitting I can put on my blog since Boar never reads it.

A little of this and 8 of that …..

Thank you for all the input about my scarf project. I ended up ripping it out and the yarn is back in the drawer awaiting inspiration. I did order some yarn to make a vest for Boar and cannot wait to start that project – details to follow.

There has been some excitement here at Chez Swine – and not the good kind. The short story is that D#2 was not feeling well on Monday and ended up fainting. She has fainted before (giving blood and participating in a sweltering marching band parade). After lots of debate (with her loving Mother casting the ‘no’ vote) we ended up in the ER. It was packed and we were there for 6 1/2 hours.  Blood tests, urine tests and EKG later, it was concluded that D#2 has a virus and needs to rest and get lots of fliuds.

I know, I know better safe than sorry, but I would like to point out that I was right. that’s Dr. Purlingswine to you! Anyway, D#2 has been home for the past three days, resting and getting lots of TLC – she insisted on going back to school today since she is stressing over her workload. I would have liked one more day just to make sure she is truly better, but how much good would it do if she was just home worrying?

The ladies are coming over today for lunch and knitting.  I am on a health kick lately and am whipping up some  Chickpea Stew with Sweet Onions.  It is a new recipe, I will let you know if it’s a keeper.

April tagged me for this one …..

  1. I count the buttons on my remote controls. And I will occasionally do a recount to make sure nothing has changed.
  2. I have started a new diet that requires me to take a hot bath every night. I have high hopes for this plan since I happen to be a fantastic bather. I excel at lounging in the tub.
  3. I cannot roll my R’s.
  4. I can roll my tongue.
  5. More than rolling my eyes, my facial expression of choice is the eyebrow arch. I’m doing it right now.
  6. I put salt on my watermelon.
  7. I like to make soup.
  8. I need new carpet in my den.

my so called scarf

My So Called Scarf.

this project is representative of my mood these days. I am feeling rather blah – can’t decide if I like it, if I should rip it, what I should knit next, what yarn I should use for the thing I can’t decide to knit next ….. blah, blah!

so what do you think? When this pattern first hit the blog scene, I fell in love with it. So cool! And I still love it – I just don’t know how much I love it in this yarn. I am beginning to think that this yarn is in fact my problem. It is lovely – Lorna’s Laces, and so so soft. But it is completely not my colors. I bought it on a trip to Greenport, which is a little village on the north fork of Long Island and it was something of a souvenir and as such the colors remind me of that day – all blue sky and sandy beach. But they are definitely not the colors that I tend to knit with.

So this is where you come in —– tell me what to do! do I continue on because it is in fact beautiful and I will come to appreciate that fact. Do I rip it now? any project ideas for this yarn (Lorna’s worsted – I have two skeins which totals 450 yds)
