am I squandering my talent?

I have a question for all you dishcloth aficionados out there – and you know who you are. What is the difference between Sugar & Cream and Peaches & Cream? I only just noticed that the Mason Dixon pattern calls for Peaches & Cream. As we already established, I am a wicked bad skimmer. When I saw the label reading & Cream, I just assumed I had the right yarn. I also wanted pie. A big piece of pie.

I am still in the thick of spinning all that roving. Vows were recently made regarding my lack of roving organization. I told Cara that from now on I was going to write a note to keep in the roving bags with all pertinent info – what it is/where I bought it etc. – so that when I blog about being in the thick of all that roving, I can be a bit more specific. Being the genius that she is, Cara pointed out that I could accomplish the same thing by simply keeping the receipt in the bag. Brilliant, the girl is brilliant!

In other news, it looks like I will be working on Mondays. A new yarn shop, Knitting on the Lamb, has recently relocated to my town. I went there yesterday for what I thought would be a getting to know you session and ended up working the whole day! I am also still teaching at Pathways Women’s Health on Friday afternoons. Kathleen and I are trying to convince Granny to hold some classes too! my takeover is almost complete! ; )

how about a nice cold one?

I got some good spinning done yesterday. I thought I had better concentrate my energies on getting some twist into all of this roving I have before it’s time for Rhinebeck!

So anyway, I keep my wheel in our basement. When we bought the house, we had A Very Brady Basement, all bright orange and brown. Boar and I refinished it a few years ago. New paneling, floors etc. and it is really nice down there now. There is a bit of a mini kitchen and Boar has his beer on tap. His keg is very close to my wheel. As these things often go, my craft starts to take over.

I hope you can tell that I am only guilty of keg proximity – I did not drink and get behind the wheel!

fyi – Boar has a collection of beer paraphanalia – he does not have Shlitz on tap. That is an antique tap handle. There’s Killian’s in there at the moment!

I’ve got nothing for the blog today – but two days away seemed too much. I have been knitting away on dishcloths (quit smirking!) and painting the Adirondack chairs. They are waiting for a second coat. And I have also been cooking – trying out a new recipe.

Did I mention that D#2 got her learner’s permit? That she has already been driving Onslow? Yes, my two babies! But mostly she has been using our Subaru with its automatic transmission. And the news from D#1 is also very exciting – she tried out for and made a special chamber choir. As a part of the curriculum, they travel to Bulgaria and Greece for 16 days in May! gulp.

happy knitting darlings – I shall leave you with an oldie, but a goodie ….

Fall

It is officially fall around here. I know the calendar would have something to say about my proclamation, but I have seen the signs and summer is over. That can mean only one thing – Fall has begun!

Sign #1 – we spent yesterday getting the pool ready for winter – this involves a thorough cleaning, a filter disassembling and then wrestling with the gigantic cover, all the while screaming at the pugs to get off of it. This happens every year and every year about halfway through the process I corral them back into the house (another process that involves screaming) all the while muttering that I should have never let them out in the first place and why don’t I ever learn.

Sign #2 – alarms went off early this morning and D#2 is off to start her Junior year of high school. The college selection process is on her horizon – egads! There was a flurry of phone calls last night as outfits and hairdos were discussed.

Sign #3 – talk of upcoming Rhinebeck fun is reaching a fevered pitch! Outfits and hairdos have also been discussed. I am campaigning for capes.

Sign #4 – did you check out my new banner image?

In my last entry I promised you pictures ……

New_table
new kitchen table!
it has a distressed pine top and a maple bottom painted with black over red. Also has extender boards for either end which make it fantastically big. You can sort of see the matching bench on the far side. The hunt is on hunt for new chairs.
