so here’s the thing. The Icarus Shawl, which I said yesterday that I wanted to make bigger, is already bigger. The pattern calls for lace weight and I am using something along the lines of fingering/sport. Now the question is how much bigger?

I have not yet begun the lace repeats and the stockinette portion is reaching to my wrist. Although I am also just now noticing how in this picture, the shawl is unevenly positioned on the model. Do you see how it is all bunched up over her other arm? Does this mean that in its natural position, that lace edging would not reach her wrist? argh! I hate these f**ing misleading pictures!

A little bit of everything today. First off, the home improvement project – a new foyer light fixture! Mr. Boar says, “It’s nice, but what was wrong with the old one”

Next up, the knitting. Ann says, “I am so sick of this I want to take my Addis and stab myself in the eye.”

And to make matters worse, even though I am on the final stockinette repeat according to the directions, I am also at the point where if I want to make this bigger, I should add another repeat. I DO want to make this bigger. I DO NOT want to knit another repeat! argh!

Cara is coming over tomorrow – maybe I can get her to knit it for me?

here at Chez Swine, it’s all about the love

Look at the adorable magnet from my spinning friend Delia! so cute! please refrain from any comparisons – you know yellow isn’t my color! I love it Delia! ;)

I am working furiously on Icarus – progress is evident! I am in love with this yarn – can’t wait to wrap myself in it. I was speaking with Boar last night and telling him about welding wires and blocking lace. He says that Home Depot carries welding wires and so this weekend on what seems to be our weekly trek, we shall add those to the shopping list.

Continuing my social director theme from yesterday ……

  • tonight on NBC is The Office. I love this show. It is right up there with Arrested Development. I was completely devastated to have missed the season premier last week when I was away in San Diego. Believe you me, I really tried to see it but we had a compulsory dinner to attend (it was a business trip afterall). And no, I don’t have Tivo. Or Io. I really don’t even understand what they do or mean. D#2 is also a fan, so she filled me in and that will have to do until I catch a rerun.
  • mark your calendar, this Sunday (10/1) is Greenlawn’s Annual Pickle Festival! Here are the details:

I love pickles! I will have to be very careful not to get pickle juice all over Icarus.

Here’s a look at my Rhinebeck project. With a little luck and lots of knitting, I will get it done in time. It is Icarus from the summer 2006 issue of Interweave Knits . I am using Alpaca Silk from Blue Sky Alpaca. This is a heavier yarn than the pattern calls for but I had to have this color. It reminds me of a Weimeraner! woof.

Since I am too distracted (by a little black pug!) to think in complete sentences and/or paragraphs at the moment, how about a list?

  • First off, opine please. Before too long (read: long & cold winter) the Boar and I will need some new garage doors. Follow the middle link to the steel carriage house ones and tell me what you think of those wooden look alikes.
