so, so close ….

Last night’s spinning guild meeting was fairly exciting and so I did not quite complete the socks.

This pattern widened my sock knitting repertoire to include a French Heel and a Rounded Toe. I surprised myself by liking them both – especially the rounded toe. I love the way the two sided decrease toe looks and feels and truly didn’t think I would like this other method – but I was wrong! Here is a closer look at the pattern stitch in the cuff. I will say that it shows up much better when the sock in being worn, but here goes …..

I need to finish these up and find a new project quic! We are going on a road trip tomorrow to visit D#1 and also spend some time with my Brother and SiL. I will be needing another sock pattern for extended car ride knitting.

and although none of you has asked ~ahem~ I just know you have been missing seeing little black pug pictures …… and I always say to give the people what they want. Actually, I never say that, but maybe I’ll start. This is what he as been doing as I have been typing this post – do you think he’s trying to tell me something?

please note that Mr. Poe does not really have demonically possessed blue eyes – they’re more a demonically possessed brown.

Now ladies, put down those can openers!

I have been given the ole Hong Kong Phooey over at Cara’s. She says I am the Hoover Dam of creativity and that she can eat Spaghetti O’s if she wants to. (and it looks like Vicki thinks they’re pretty tasty too). I will admit to the whole creativity damper thing and agree that Cara can and should knit whatever she wants to. But I will NOT GIVE ONE INCH on the Spaghetti O’s debate. Once you are on that culinary road to Perdition, you should just crack open a can of Spam and get it over with. yeah, I said it.

In further food talk my peeps, I have some sad news for you all. There is 6½ pounds less of me to love! Last night was my first week WW weigh in. The first week is always so motivating – all that water weight gone. I am planning on posting my weekly progress or lack thereof, in an effort to keep this ball a rollin’, this swine a losin’. It worked with the quit smoking and hopefully will have the same result with the chub.

Can you tell I have no knitting news to share? I should be finished with the second Oak Ribbed Sock today and have some pictures for tomorrow. And tonight is my spinning guild meeting – tomorrow should be chock full o fiber!

the good news: I won a contest at Knitting Fool! although I didn’t guess what the shadow was, her wonderful mother just happened to pick my name from the hat! thanks Kristi & Mom!!

the bad news: I either have a head cold or seasonal allergies. Either way, my eyes are bulgy and my nose is runny. eewww.

the good news: D#2 has made me tea and oatmeal for breakfast. I think I can look forward to a day of her tlc – she has one more day of spring vacation.

the fiber bad news: have made no headway at all in getting those spinning samples off of the bobbin. Also I finished Lauralund – but don’t know if I like the way it fits me. Perhaps a few weeks of WW will change my mind.

the fiber good news: have finished one Oak Ribbed Sock and the other has progressed to the heel. That will be some good mindless knitting for my day in between sneezing.

At long last, a finished project! Our friends just welcomed their first grandchild (yes it’s true, I am now old enough to have friends who are grandmas and grandpas). I made a baby bolero using a Debbie Bliss pattern and baby cashmerino. That yarn is sumptuous. I hit the jackpot at Macy’s and found a darling dress and bonnet to match. Here is a closer look.

Did you notice the metal rimmed tag? It’s an embossed tag saying it is handmade by me – I got the embosser in 2003 from Martha Stewart , I was going to include a link to it but can’t find it anywhere on her site – I don’t think she is selling them anymore.

Beginning today, I will be attending a three day spinning workshop with Celia Quinn. It is being hosted by the local spinning guild – have I mentioned how much I love this guild?
