D#2 had her remaining wisdom teeth taken out this morning. At the beginning of the summer, two came out and today it was time for the other two. Poor girl – she is all groggy from the sedation and puffy to boot. At the moment she is taking a nap with Mr. Poe.

Not much to report on the fiber front. I am making some progress on my STR Jaywalkers, but knitting was light yesterday so I am not as far along as I expected to be. Not that there’s a deadline or anything!

I have been busy keeping a fiberly New Year’s resolution. I have been organizing my knitting pictures from years past and trying to remember what pattern and yarn. I have them in two folders 2004/2005. All of this is on the computer at the moment, but I am going to have Boar show me how to burn them onto a CD. It has been a revelation – even though I have plenty of pictures, there are loads of things knitted that were never photographed. So the minute these Jaywalkers come off the needles, I will be snapping their picture!

I started the new year with fiber. First I had a bowl of Shredded Wheat for breakfast and then I dug out my STR and cast on for Jaywalkers! Hard to believe, but Cara tells me that she does not have this particular colorway – Lagoon. I don’t know if this could possibly be true – logic would dictate, no. Her STR stash is ginormous, so this could be the knitter’s version of Roswell.

I spent most of yesterday knitting and watching the Monk marathon on USA network. I took a break from Jaywalking to monkey around with some of my very own handspun – which is in the picture on the left. I finished spinning this at Cara’s and then came home and plyed it. I started off making a Mistake Rib scarf, but wasn’t thrilled with the results ….. any ideas? I have approximately 260 yards.

I have one knitting resolution for the year – I will keep better records of my projects. For example, my handspun? I have no idea what it is or where I got it …… all of that is going to change. Do you have a wonderful method for keeping track? I am open to any and all suggestions!

and before I go ….. check out Jen La #64 and #65 :)

Well darlings, It has finally happened! Something that I have been waiting for, for a long, long time. Something that I was beginning to get a little crazed about ……

Presents from Cara!!

Yes, it’s true! Cara had some party favors for me …… a very cool chibi with what she says are ‘life changing’ needles and some glow in the dark live-stock. When I last left you, I was on my way to visit Cara and her new wheel …… I had packed up my Lendrum in my new carry bag and was taking the train into Penn Station where Cara would meet me. Let me first say, that the carry bag is wonderful – nicely padded, with great pockets for different things. However, it is really not meant for back packing around – it gets heavy after awhile! Later on in the afternoon, Jen came over with Xavier, so it was a perfect day – friends, spinning, knitting and babies! Despite what she may tell you, Cara is a very good spinner and took to it right away – that is why all of her pouting and stomping was surprising ….. and hysterically funny. Do you think it helped her to have me there laughing?? (and maybe even pointing?) and while I am thinking of it, go over there and wish her a happy birthday – today is Cara Eve afterall …..

My Ebay order of addis arrived and I am thrilled to report that it is not too good to be true! They arrived yesterday and I am now able to cast on for some STR Jaywalkers! I will be starting the New Year on the right foot! ha!

but what am I working on right now? this giant luxury mohair scarf thing …… it is an oversized scarf/shawl, knit with a feather & fan pattern. It is knit length-wise, which means that each row has 390 stitches. Which probably explains why I really am not enjoying working on it ….. however, others have their own opinions ….

Something highly unusual has happened her at the Sty. People have given me prezzies …. and I haven’t thought they were from Cara! How about that for something different?!

On Friday the cute little pig measuring tape arrived in my mailbox. Liz saw it and thought of me. You know the old saying, find a pig, pick it up, send it to Ann, all day long you’ll have good luck Thank you Liz —- I love it!! and will think of you every time I pull its tail!

Next up is a Christmas present from Kathleen. I love this coffee mug – Got Gauge? items support Heifer International which is such a worthwhile charity. But, back to the mug – I am a coffee junkie, and therefore somewhat particular about my mugs. This one is the perfect heft. Kathleen had to drop it off early because Kevin was coveting it.

Thank you pals!!

On the knitting front, I am attempting to finish all projects before beginning another. My aim is to have a nanosecond when there is nothing on the needles. Having recently finished the sweater and now the socks, I have only this shawl/scarf thing going at the moment. It is something of a monster, 360 stitches per row!, so I don’t know if I will be able to persevere and keep going with no other distractions, but I am going to try. I don’t want to start Irish Moss until after the holiday hub bub is over. My next pair of socks will be Jaywalkers and I am waiting for a pair of Addi’s size 1 to arrive ….. speaking of, I found great price on these, here is the ebay link. I am waiting for my shipment, but this person has great feedback, so I am confident that this isn’t too good to be true.
